Artist of the Week: Hombres G & Enanitos Verdes

Hombres G and Enanitos Verdes will be joining forces for a special set at this year’s Ruido Fest! Did you also know that Hombres G recently returned after an eight-year hiatus? The band has existed for over 30 years. That alone is an impressive feat; but to top it off, they also won an honorary Grammy in 2006 and the gold medal for the Merit of the Fine Arts in 2017. The band’s return was highly anticipated and you won’t want to miss your chance to see them live! Joining them is Enanitos Verdes, a rock band from Argentina. Founded in 1979, the band is well known for their hits such as “Luz De Día” and has had a long and successful career as well. Their newest single, “My Old Guitar”, is available now! We’re excited to have them performing at Ruido Fest and we hope that you will join us.

REPORT: Silverio to Join the Cast of Star Wars: Episode IX

04/01/18 by Maximilian Rey
At long last, Disney, Lucasfilm and director J.J. Abrams have unveiled the cast of “Star Wars: Episode IX.”  To the surprise of many in Hollywood and across the film industry, Mexican dance punk legend Silverio has been added to the cast along with series regulars Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley,  and Max von Sydow. Silverio will play the character King Suavecito, the ruling potentate of third moon of Planet Chilpancingo.

“We are so excited to finally to get Silverio onboard for ‘Star Wars: Episode IX.’ It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and this brilliant new performer come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud,” said Abrams.  At press time, Silverio‘s management confirmed that he will be given a short break from the filming schedule to perform at Ruido Fest in Chicago, June 22-24.

Gepe was added to the Ruido Fest lineup

Gepe has been added to our lineup and we couldn’t be more excited. This Chilean singer-song writer combines folk music with electro pop creating a very unique sound. He’ll be performing at Ruido Fest on Friday, July 7th.

One of his biggest influences is Victor Jara, a Chilean teacher, poet, singer and political activist. He also has a lot of influences from the 80’s.

Molotov is back!

We’re very excited to bring back Molotov this year. They were part of the very first Ruido Fest and we thought it was time to bring them back. If you were there with us in 2015 when they closed the festival on Saturday you might say “why would I need to go this year?” This year’s set will be a very special one because their it will be dedicated to one of their most popular albums, Donde jugaran las niñas? which was released back in 1997!

This album includes classics of the band such as “Puto”, “Gimme Tha Power”, and “Voto Latino”. If you weren’t around that time or were in kindergarten like some of us, this is your chance to see them play an album that has established Molotov as one of the most influential bands in the Rock en Español genre.
